Why the International Community Is Important to the American Brahman Breeders Association

The American Brahman Breeders Association was founded to preserve, promote, and improve the Brahman breed—but its influence and impact extend far beyond U.S. borders. As we look toward the future of our association and the breed itself, one thing is clear: the international community is not only important to ABBA—it is essential.

Brahman cattle are recognized globally for their adaptability, maternal strength, and carcass performance in challenging environments. These qualities have made them the foundation of crossbreeding programs and the genetic backbone of herds across Latin America, Asia, Africa, and beyond. International breeders look to the ABBA as the original source of Brahman genetics, leadership, and credibility.

In mid-February, Paul Maulsby and Iridiana Ibarra-Leal attended the US Livestock Genetics Export (USLGE), Inc. Annual Membership Meeting in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. USLGE is a vital nonprofit trade association that unites various U.S. livestock organizations, representing the international marketing interests across dairy, beef, swine, horse, and small ruminant breeding industries. ABBA has maintained active membership in USLGE for many years, benefiting from financial support that has enabled us to send ABBA judges overseas and educate global cattle producers about the advantages of Brahman genetics.

International Judging

The American Brahman Breeders Association is dedicated to promoting the global recognition of Brahman cattle, and one of the key ways we do this is by providing highly qualified official judges to evaluate Brahman livestock at prestigious shows and events around the world.

Our judges are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the industry, bringing a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the Brahman breed. Thanks to our long-standing partnership with the US Livestock Genetics Export (USLGE), Inc., ABBA has received financial support to send these skilled judges to various international locations. Their participation not only ensures a fair and accurate evaluation process but also provides invaluable educational opportunities to cattle producers globally.

These judges play a vital role in raising awareness about the benefits of Brahman genetics, helping to foster a deeper understanding of the breed’s potential to enhance herd quality and meet market demands. By sharing their expertise, ABBA’s judges help advance the Brahman breed’s reputation as a leader in the global cattle industry.

Through these efforts, ABBA continues to strengthen our global network, supporting our international members and promoting excellence in Brahman cattle around the world.
