American Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) is seeking qualified candidates for Youth Activities / Communications Director. 

This position is responsible for the association’s communications services and overseeing the American Junior Brahman Association. 

The position will closely interact with all members of the ABBA Board of Directors, AJBA Board of Directors, Youth Committee, Communications Committee, vendors and service providers.

Position Announcement

Title: Director of Communications & Youth Activities

Communications Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the communications, digital, print advertising, and social media marketing for the American Brahman Breeders Association and American Junior Brahman Association. 
  • Maintain ABBA website (built in WordPress)
  • Maintain the ABBA Facebook and Instagram
  • Write and distribute email blasts to members
  • Write and distribute press releases to members
  • Assist with preparation for ABBA Board of Directors meetings
  • Provide information to beef industry publications to promote ABBA and benefits of Brahman.
  • Develop ABBA’s annual print media and marketing strategy

Youth Director Activities:

  • Organize and facilitate the “All American” National Junior Brahman Show each summer
  • Serve as advisor / coordinator of the the AJBA Junior Board
  • Supervise and chaperone AJBA Junior Board at industry events, junior nationals, etc. 
  • Plan the AJBA board meetings
  • Maintain the AJBA Facebook and Instagram
  • Solicit corporate sponsorships of the All American National Junior Brahman Show

Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, preferably in ag communications, animal science, ag business, finance, agriculture or agricultural education.  
  • Livestock or purebred beef industry background is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with junior livestock shows and/or junior beef cattle organizations is highly desirable. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priority projects quickly and efficiently under deadlines of a busy office. 
  • Strong computer skills including understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, email, and web browsing. Experience with Quickbooks Online a plus. 
  • Experience working with youth programs is preferred. 
  • Ability to make travel arrangements for yourself and others. 
  • Ability to take direction from a Board then visualize, plan, and execute initiatives from start to finish. 

Travel Requirements:

Travel will be required approximately 20% of the time, including weekends, to local, regional, national and possibly international events. A valid passport is required. 

Location: The ABBA office is located in Bryan, Texas.

Compensation: Commensurate with skills and experience. A competitive benefit package is included.
