Registry Update 7-27-18
July 27th, 2018 by brahmanabba
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I hope all of you are doing well and having a great summer. For those of you needing rain, I wish we could share some of the 40+ inches we’ve received in Florida lately.
I’m reporting to you after spending three days at the ABBA office in Houston. I am extremely happy to report on the progress we have made. We met with the LGS computer programmer and Barry Smith to review and address some of the major issues the staff has reported with the new system. We diligently worked all week with the programmer who has currently made changes to the registry system that will provide for a more efficient and user friendly process. Please understand that although we had a great week and have made much progress, we are still not where we need to be. There are three major services we are asking for which will require additional time to complete. The transition is a work in progress and the current changes are definitely a step towards providing better member services to the ABBA membership.
We realize that this should have been done sooner, however, I am confident at this time, that our staff’s concerns are being addressed and we are moving in a positive direction. Armelinda and all her staff are working extremely hard to get caught up and I feel confident that with the changes made to the system this week, our staff will have a more streamlined system to work with. We are currently working on transfers and paper registrations that were submitted two months ago, however, we feel confident that the changes made should improve the backlog of work.
I am also pleased to report that we are getting a higher percentage of online registrations and I ask that you encourage members that haven’t used it to give it a try. We have already registered more cattle on the new system than we did during the same time period last year, not even counting the last two months of paper registrations submitted. So thank you and all of our members for registering your cattle.
In light of the issues we have had with the new system, I would like to report that we are currently researching other options in case LGS fails to provide the services as promised. Another change is certainly not what we would like to do, but your leadership understands that registering and transferring cattle is ABBA’s number one priority. As stated earlier, I feel much better at this point in time, after what I deemed a highly successful week.
We have received five resumes for the EVP position to date. We will be accepting resumes until August 15th. We will keep you informed as we move forward in this search.
If you know of a good candidate please have them submit their resume to the attention of Armelinda. If any of you have any questions please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
